Privacy Policy
Shorts Studio is a desktop app for macOS that makes YouTube Shorts and publishes them to the user's own YouTube channels. It runs entirely on the user's computer. There is no Shorts Studio server, account or analytics, and the developer receives no data from the app.
YouTube API Services
Shorts Studio uses YouTube API Services to publish videos. By connecting a channel you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
What the app accesses
When you sign in with Google and allow access, the app uses the YouTube Data API to:
- read your channel's ID, name and picture, to show which channel is connected;
- list your channel's playlists, so you can choose where a video goes;
- upload the videos you choose to publish, with the title, description, tags and settings you set;
- add an uploaded video to the playlists you choose, set its thumbnail and add its subtitles;
- read the status of the videos it uploaded, and change their schedule or delete them when you ask.
The app does not read your other videos, comments, ratings, subscribers or analytics.
What the app stores, and where
- Everything stays on your computer, in the app's own data folder.
- The sign-in token for each connected channel, and the app's Google client secret, are encrypted with the macOS Keychain.
- The connected channels (ID, name, picture link and your upload defaults) and a list of the videos you published (their YouTube ID, details and status).
Sharing
Data obtained from Google APIs is used only to provide the publishing features above. It is not sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or sent to any AI service. Videos and their details go only to YouTube, and only when you publish. The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
To suggest a title, description and tags, the app can ask Claude (Anthropic) using your own project's script and idea. This text comes from your project, not from Google.
Removing access and data
- Remove a channel in Settings → YouTube to delete its stored sign-in token from your computer.
- Revoke the app's access at any time on Google's security settings page: myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Deleting the app's data folder (~/Library/Application Support/Shorts Studio) removes everything it stored. Videos already on YouTube stay there until you delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
